Similarly, I recently returned from a weeklong cruise onboard the brand-new Celebrity Ascent. After spending 7 nights in an ocean view room, I could not be more excited to return onboard the beautiful ship in July and stay in an Infinite Veranda cabin! I'm looking forward to experiencing first-hand this relatively new type of balcony. From booking varying cabin categories to sailing with different companions, I took some steps to ensure that my cruises onboard the same ships would not feel too similar. Overall the cruise was fantastic, as are most in my opinion. Not every thing was as we are accustomed, but its good to experience new things.
The theater is something completely unique to Oasis-class ships. Sometimes it is fully up and performers can walk on the water. There are fountains to spray water, diving platforms, lights, and more. On Deck 6 there is the Boardwalk, an open area at the back of the ship.
Design/FeelIf you’ve sailed Royal Caribbean before, then the design of Oasis of the Seas will feel familiar. Much of the design and style you find across the fleet is found on Oasis as well. In other words, it’s nice and modern without feeling stuffy.
My son and I are not sun worshipers by any means and do our best to stay out of it unless actually in the pool. Prime areas on other ships are in the direct sun and space in the shade is mostly tables, smokers or afterthoughts. One thing that took a little getting used to was the presence of lifeguards. If the pool is open, there is a guy standing there watching. Even the less than 4ft deep adults only Solarium pool has one. If you’re inclined to pay extra for food you’ll probably visit more often as many of the specialty dining venues are located in Central Park.
